New Member Ministry

 

PURPOSE:  To assimilate new members into the life and fellowship of the Spring Creek Church.

 

HOW does it work?

 

The ways are endless . . . but to get you started, listed below are examples of ways to reach out to a new member, especially during the first year:

 

PRAY

PRAY regularly for new member and his/her spiritual development

 

CONNECT

·       Introduce them to other members

·       Look for them Sunday mornings

·       Greet them in the hallway

·       Purpose to be INCLUSIVE – not exclusive

·       Offer to sit with them during worship

·       Give them a phone call or send an email

·       Visit them

 

INVITE

INVITE them to:

·       Join one of the small groups (Sunday School, Bible study) or join with your group

·       Love Feast and Communion (remember how nervous you were?)  and offer to sit together

·       Special services

·       Share a cup of coffee, an ice cream cone or a meal

 

ENCOURAGE

·       Acknowledge their special days

·       Seek opportunities to encourage them through life’s challenges

 

SUPPORT

·       Look for opportunities to perform acts of kindness

·       Be part of their emotional, mental, physical and spiritual support
