Children spend time on Wednesday nights growing in their faith through activities and lessons. Our children’s choir practices for a half an hour, followed by an hour of group time. In a small group setting, children rotate between learning a Bible lesson, making a craft, and spending time making friends. Kid’s Club meets every other Wednesday from October through April. The children culminate their time together in April with a carnival that includes snow cones, funnel cakes, and face painting.
Children’s church meets every Sunday for children ages 4 years old through 1st grade during the traditional worship service. Children attend the service, participate in a Young Disciples message and then proceed to their own special service. Children are taught a Bible lesson, have snack, and make a craft. Adults from the congregation lead this ministry.
In the Children’s department, Sunday school is offered for children birth through 5th grade. Our classes are broken into age groups: birth – 17 months, 18 months, - 3 years old, 4 and 5 years old, kindergarten – 2nd grade, 3rd grade – 5th grade. Children spend one hour learning Bible lessons, doing crafts, and singing songs. The children’s choir also practices at the be
ginning of the Sunday school hour for children ages 4 years old – 5th grade.
Vacation Bible School
VBS takes place each summer during the third week of July. The theme for the week changes each year, but snacks, lessons, crafts, and recreation time always are present! Children attend VBS each evening, Monday through Friday. The children learn songs and their motions, make new friends, and grow in their knowledge and love for Christ. VBS is offered to children ages 3 years old through 5th grade.
Sports Camp is a modified VBS for children who want to learn more about sports and Jesus at the same time. Sports camp is offered in the evenings during the third week of June to children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade. Children register for a sport (soccer, basketball, or cheerleading) and spend the week learning the basic skills and techniques needed to play. In between lessons, the coaches and their assistants “huddle” with their group and relate a life skill to a famous athlete and someone from the Bible. The children learn a little more about their sport and then break for a snack. During the snack, the children learn another life skill and watch a demonstration related to it. The children reconvene with their coaches to have a little time to play a scrimmage or demonstrate their new skills. The evening ends with time together while listening to a Bible story and learning about people in the Bible that faced the same challenges that we face today. The children also learn motivational and fun songs and actions throughout the week.
Children’s Bell choir
The bell choir practices each Sunday after Sunday school. The children play many traditional songs throughout the year. The children also have the opportunity to perform during the worship service. The children do not need to be able to read music and it is open to all children ages 4 years old through 5th grade.
